GENERAL
The engine is water-cooled and the cooling system
is of the seaIed type, see fig. 2-98.
The fan is a speed-regulated fan, a so-called
viscous type (see fig. 2-99).
The funct_on is to ensure that the fan blades do
not eKceed a certain speed even if the eng_ne
speed is eKceeded. See Fig. 2_1 O5. The siK fan blad_
es are mounted asymmetrically to keep down the
noise level. The f3n coupling consists of the shroud
(1 1 , fig. 2-99) in which the fan blades (1) are
secured with the bolt (2). The shroud (1 1) has
two halves wh1ch. however, cannot be separated
for repairs, the fan coupling then being replaced
complete. The hub (8) has a light fit on the water
pump flange (6) and is locked by means of the
center boIt (7). The hub is prov_ded with a slip disc
of friction material (9) surrounded by o_I. During
_dl_ng and at low speeds, the slipping is insignifi'-
cant, so that the fan provides an air current for
good coo_ing. When the ingo_ng speed (that of the Fig. 2-99. VlsGOus _an
