_ , _ , ,,',i ' , _ _ _ _ , ' The M 4O gearbox (with overdrîve - M 41) for
, the P 18OO is a fully synchronized four-speed
gearbox. It can also be equipped with an over-
drive, connected to the fourth gear, thus giving
five forward speeds.
The appearance of the gearbox is illustrated
in Fig. 1 and Illustration A. All gears, except
, reverse, are in constant mesh. In the neutraI
position the gears on the main shaft rotatefreely.
_ For this reason they are provided with needle
bearings. Whenengaging a gear, the correspond-
w_ íng gear wheeI is connected to the main shaft
Z_77y by means ofan engaging sleeve.
